My love for you
Separated by borders of religion,
And oceans of cultural travesty.
Pushed apart by the diversity of gods and mythology.
Shattered by society and its rules.
Crushed under the weight of parental expectations.
Battered despite the change in the winds of time.
Is my love for you
Lost in a world where speaking the same language, worshipping the same god and seeking the same salvation is the norm.
Repressed under the guise of friendship and brotherhood,
Squandered and misplaced in the physical distance between us,
Is my love for you.
It feels like love is lost on us
In between translation and rewording
And rewriting
To fit it into that box that society wants it to be in
To contain it and explain it
To make people understand
It's become unrecognizable to me and you,
It has. The love that I have for you.
It's not that complicated, my love
Not neurons firing away, synapses clicking in,
Not a complex bodily function to be described with diagrams and long sentences
Not the difficult science of how life was first created or who created it or why
My love for you is a simple four letter word.
Uncomplicated.
Unabated. And
Unencumbered.
(A/N: Why do I write cringey love poems? That's as mysterious as why the Bermuda triangle eats ships and planes. *dramatic music you didn't notice was playing intensifies*)
